Progression 1 (Intro) Knee stand to roundoff hands (use hand prints)
Progression 2 Lunge to roundoff hands to wall/block
Progression 3 Kick to handstand in roundoff hands, 1/2 turn to wall hold
Progression 4 Kick to handstand in roundoff hands, 1/2 turn to belly
Progression 5 Kick to handstand in roundoff hands, 1/2 turn to wall hold

The Why? We do not roundoff with cartwheel hands, the second hand turns in and this promotes the natural turn and “snap” to complete the Roundoff skill, differentiating it from a cartwheel!

Corrections: The handstand pirouette video does a great job of showing Roundoff hands so apply the hand placement to your level tumblers! The second video has a great depiction of roundoff hands, and how the athlete executes!!!

Progression 2 Straight jump to lunge
Progression 3 Straight jump to lunge push to fall to plank on elevated surface

Progression 5 Straight jump to lunch push to fall to plank on elevated surface

The Why? Teaching the power of moving forward and catching ourselves as we “fall”.

Corrections: Watch the tracking of the front leg! Hip knee and ankle remain in line through the “karate kick” and foot has to fall straight forward from the hip to ensure straight tumbling!
